Cooking with Rey is a small family restaurant in Cuenca, Ecuador. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep about you and why. Last updated: October 21, 2026.
What we collect. When you request a reservation: your name, email, phone (optional), the date, time and party size, each guest's first name and dish choices, and any notes you write. When you join our mailing list: your email, and if you choose to share them, your name and birthday or anniversary month. If we send you a coupon, we keep its number, your name and email, and whether it was used. We do not collect payment details on this website.
Why. Only to handle your reservation, prepare your food, reply to you, send a reminder the day before your visit and a thank-you note afterwards, and — if you joined the list — our newsletter and occasional offers.
Who helps us. The website runs on a server we rent from OVH in the United States. Emails are sent through Mailgun. Reservation details are sent to Rey and our manager through Telegram so they can confirm quickly. Notes you write, and Rey's replies to you, may be translated automatically between English and Spanish by Anthropic's Claude (or OpenAI if Claude is unavailable). We do not sell or rent your information, and we never share it with advertisers. We only send you offers if you joined our mailing list.
Cookies and tracking. This website uses no analytics, no advertising trackers and no tracking cookies. The only cookie is the login for our own staff page.
Facebook. Our Facebook page shows our dishes, news and guest reviews. A review is shown with the name or signature the guest gave when writing it (for example on TripAdvisor), exactly as on our website. We never post reservation details, email addresses or phone numbers.
Your choices. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link. To see, correct or delete what we keep about you, email whatscooking@mailsam.com and we will take care of it.
